{"id":282,"date":"2010-08-02T16:00:19","date_gmt":"2010-08-02T15:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/philonfood.com\/?p=282"},"modified":"2010-08-02T16:00:19","modified_gmt":"2010-08-02T15:00:19","slug":"grill-stock","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/philonfood.com\/index.php\/2010\/08\/02\/grill-stock\/","title":{"rendered":"Grill Stock"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A couple of weeks ago was Grill Stock: \u201ca BBQ themed two\u2010day food &amp; drink festival\u201d in Bristol.\u00a0 It was great &#8211; BBQ competitions, demonstrations, chilli eating contest, and plenty of food stalls.<\/p>\n<p>I might have overdosed a little on burgers (hard not to when you have a choice of duck &amp; plum sauce, saltmarsh lamb, ostrich, kangaroo, crocodile and of course various beef burgers), but my highlight was Taste of Persia, from where I sampled their meal of many dishes with some lovely marinated kebabs.<\/p>\n<p>My only criticism is that I couldn\u2019t see the chilli eating contest as the contestants were sat in low seats with a large crowd around (please, for next year &#8211; put them on a stage!) &#8211; but otherwise it was a great event.<\/p>\n<p>I feel lucky that the Bristol and Bath area have a lot of foodie events (the Bristol Organic Food Festival and Taste of Bath to name but two).\u00a0 But an invigorated interest in good food does seem to be a national trend in Britain with the proliferation in farmers markets, local food and beer festivals and other events foodie events.\u00a0 And I think that\u2019s no bad thing.\u00a0 So make the most of it!<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-1' class='gallery galleryid-282 gallery-columns-3 gallery-size-thumbnail'><figure class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<div class='gallery-icon landscape'>\n\t\t\t\t<a href='https:\/\/philonfood.com\/index.php\/2010\/08\/02\/grill-stock\/img_1014\/'><img width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/philonfood.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/img_1014-150x150.jpg\" class=\"attachment-thumbnail size-thumbnail\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure><figure class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<div class='gallery-icon landscape'>\n\t\t\t\t<a href='https:\/\/philonfood.com\/index.php\/2010\/08\/02\/grill-stock\/img_1010\/'><img width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/philonfood.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/img_1010-150x150.jpg\" class=\"attachment-thumbnail size-thumbnail\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure><figure class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<div class='gallery-icon landscape'>\n\t\t\t\t<a href='https:\/\/philonfood.com\/index.php\/2010\/08\/02\/grill-stock\/img_1007\/'><img width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/philonfood.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/img_1007-150x150.jpg\" class=\"attachment-thumbnail size-thumbnail\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A couple of weeks ago was Grill Stock: \u201ca BBQ themed two\u2010day food &amp; drink festival\u201d in Bristol.\u00a0 It was great &#8211; BBQ competitions, demonstrations, chilli eating contest, and plenty of food stalls.
